Alton Quaker Meeting House and Burial Ground

Still in use as a Quaker Meeting House, the building retains some of its original features although it has been much altered over the years Interesting features include the old safe in the lobby, the two storey wooden screen which can be opened to enlarge the main meeting room and the original Elders' bench. If the weather is good it is worthwhile to visit the burial ground which is attached to the Meeting House and still open for burials. It is hoped that there may be a small exhibition about the history of the meeting house and Quakers in Alton over the last 350 years and a display of panels from the Loving Earth Project.
