All Saints Church, Weston

The present building dates back to the 11th century. The 13th century double arched bell-cote houses two bells cast in 1991 to replace the ancient bells which were stolen. Since recovered they can be found inside the church. The most recent addition to the building is the fine porch, dated 1686. The interior boasts pine and oak box pews with the large pew opposite the pulpit containing a music stand around which musicians and singers gathered for special occasions. Dating from the 14th century, unusual raised ornaments can be seen on the capitals of the pillars on the north aisle. The crescent shape may have been the emblem of the Percy family, one-time overlords of Weston and Askwith, with others perhaps having biblical significance or offering protection against sickness or evil. Similar devices can be seen at St Oswald's Church, Leathley.

There are no facilities at the church, but teas will be served at the adjacent Weston Hall tithe barn from 1400 - 1700 where there will also be garden tours and a toilet available (not wheelchair accessible).
