Abingdon's Lost Railways - Exhibition

Unit 24, Bury Street Shopping Centre, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 3QT

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Routes and connections by rail - the line that never was and the lost station and branch line, with a working model layout.

A display in Unit 24 in Bury Street will focus on the railways and there will be a working model layout of Abingdon Station and the yards around it.
Find out why Abingdon did not become Brunel’s railway town. He chose Swindon instead and Abingdon ended up with a branch line rather than a major north south line and all the commerce that it would have brought. Remnants of the original plan can still be seen, find out where. You will be surprised!
Find out more about the "Abingdon Bunk", when and why it closed, and watch a videoclip of memories about it.
And don't miss the transport-themed contributions from Abingdon Artists' (in the window) and the Abingdon Flower Club.
