A Taste of the Rivelin

Rivelin Park Cafe, Rivelin Park Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S6 5FE

  • 08 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

An introduction to the foraging present and industrial past of the Rivelin. Led by Siobhan (Shony's Mushrooms) and Calvin (Hidden Sheffield Walks), we will explore edible fungi and flora alongside the remnants of water-powered industry.

A bite-sized look at the dual heritage of the Rivelin Valley. Starting and finishing at the popular Rivelin Park Cafe, this is an example of what can be found along the valley at all times of the year, from seasonal nature and life forms to the largely forgotten industrial archaeology, that together make up the beauty we find today. History and ecology combine as Sheffield's industrial past is now host to many varied beneficial, medicinal, edible plants and fungi. We will be looking at what can seen on the day, but also through the seasons in an ever-changing array of treasures.
