A Talk: Keynsham Cemetery and the Roman Villa

If you had been at Durley Hill in Keynsham in 400AD you would have seen one of the largest Villas of Roman Britain. Over the centuries it was lost to time. In 1878 its location became the new Keynsham Cemetery. For nearly 150 years the Cemetery and the remains of the Villa have shared a home. This illustrated talk will draw on the Cemetery records and the archaeological research to tell a fascinating story of the Villa, what we know and what we might yet discover.
