Starting from close to the site of the first Baptist chapel, a visit will be made to the first Baptist burial ground and the information it reveals. We will trace through the passage of time to the present day. A visit will be made to the present day chapel if regulations allow. Stout shoes would be advisable and there could be periods of standing. Not suitable for children under 7.
Non-Conformity in the Berkhamsted area was particularly strong. Baptists were in evidence in the villages and many were imprisoned for clandestine worship. Although Methodists and Congregationalists have dwindled in numbers Baptists remain strong today.
