A Heritage Stroll Around Saltwell Park led by Ian Daley

Friends of Saltwell Park presents the Heritage Open Day Heritage Walk 2024; Take a stroll through the finest Victorian park in the North East and learn about the stained-glass manufacturer William Wailes who designed his own mansion in a landscaped garden that became Saltwell Park. The walk led by local historian and Chair of the Friends of Saltwell Park Ian Daley, will include many of the 12 Listed buildings and structures in Saltwell Park and the changes that have occurred since it was opened in 1876. The walk will also focus on local artist Charlie Rogers who lived very close to Saltwell Park for most of his life and painted innumerable sketches of the park, its key locations, and park users.
The walk will start at 1100 on Saturday 7 September from the main entrance near the Little Theatre at the East Park Road/Saltwell View junction and will take approximately an hour and a half. Booking is essential and can be made by emailing Stewart at [email protected].
