A Great Day Out In Clifford, a Walk through Time. Part of Connecting Clifford Celebrations
Clifford War Memorial, Junction of High St and Willow Lane, Clifford, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, LS23 6SL
The village is listed in Domesday, a tale of 2 mills, an important family, 3 churches, several pubs and a convent. From political turmoil during the reigns of Henry V111 and Elizabeth 1 to Victorian industrialization and the present day. A brief look at the churches as we pass by, with the opportunity to visit them before or after the walk. There will be talks and music in two of the churches, no need to book, just turn up! Eat your picnic at the Methodist Chapel where you'll find tea, coffee and toilet facilities. Look for old barn arches from the agricultural past and spot signs of shops which recently provided for daily needs. Walk in the steps of generations that have gone before.
