Enjoy three large vibrant wall hangings displayed in our quilt room, including a textile map of Horsforth created by residents. In the piano room immerse yourself in an event of 1891 and a travelling photographers connection with a murder.

Call in and enjoy our large vibrant wall hanging displayed in the quilt room. A textile map of Horsforth created by the children and residents of the village to celebrate our local Horsforth art festival “The walk of Art” during the summer of 2023.
Our textile map is complimented by a large colourful wall quilt of a country scene, made in memory of Alfred who served in WW1. On another wall a collage created as a millennium celebration piece made by the pupils Tinshill County Primary School which closed in 2002.

A glimpse into the life of Joseph Wallett, a Travelling photographer and his connection to a horrific murder of a child in Horsforth, during the summer of 1891. Why does he take the same image 18 years apart?

Directions:
Town Street is one way traffic. You cannot enter Town Street at the Museum end of the road. As of May 2023 on street parking on Town Street 2 hours. Fink Hill Car park opposite the museum in May 2023 free, may be a charge by September? Bus number 50 from Seacroft via Leeds to Horsforth Green terminus ouside the museum. Train to Hosforth Station a 30 minute walk to the museum.

Sorry as of May 2023 no dissabled access to first floor where our exhibition are displayed. Lift to be installed shortly, please check before your visit if the work has been carried out as out of our hands. Waiting for Leeds City Council desicion.

Additional information

Horsforth Museum covers the history of the village and surrounding areas. It is entireley run and funded by a small group of volunteers. New volunteers are always welcome. We have this year a new displays including a photographic exibition with camera's and acessories. How the Village Green was reduced over the years, the Horsforth Recreational Club origins and its end. Several original building plans on view from the 1880's left in the building by the Horsforth Urban District Council.
