Join us at Boxted Airfield Museum and discover; the restoration of a Link Trainer (early form of simulator) see the progress. The author of our history book will be in attendance. Based at Boxted was the top scoring American unit in Europe, The 56th Fighter Group, destroyed over 1000 enemy aircraft. The top US ace was also based at Boxted Francis Gabreski, read his story. 3000 men and a 100 aircraft at the base at any one time during WW2.

The Roman Barrow Mound is an excavated burial chamber, the contents of which are in Mersea Museum. They are the cremated remains of a male contained in a glass Roman cremation urn, found with a lead casket. It was excavated in 1912.
