The church is located in an inner city area and is considered to be one of Manchester's most culturally diverse neighbourhoods. The church was designed by the Lancaster Architect Edward Graham Paley 1823-1895 and Huber James Austin (1841-1915) St John's was built in 1869 -1871 and was one of their first commissions as a new partnership for a large church. Brandwood describes it as 'their most important church in Manchester' Also in the church grounds we have a war memorial, a stone Latin Cross on a plinth and a 3 stage base commemorating First and Second World Wars. The Church also contains beautiful stained class windows including windows by C. E Kempe. There is also a War Memorial on the church grounds featuring names of local people who served in both the First & Second World Wars.
A film will be played on the day 'The Links to Our Past' covering the history of the church, the local area and community.
