Musical Archives: Ida's Secret Romance (2020)
Royal Northern College of Music, Greater Manchester,
Ida Carroll, secretary and later principal of the Northern School of Music, was a very private person. She was respected as a teacher, leader and musician by all who knew her. What most didn't know, however, was that she was having a beautifully romantic relationship with a chap called Geoffrey Griffiths, the school's bursar. The relationship is detailed in the hundreds of letters Geoffrey sent to Ida, which have made their way to the RNCM Archives.
