Lower Wyke Moravian Church (2020)

The first Chapel was built in 1753 and the congregation was recognised as a congregation of the Unitas Fratrum - the Moravian Church in 1755. The original building was demolished in 1775 and the present building erected in that year.

A few years later a Sisters' House was built for the the Single Sisters of the congregation to live together in a small community. A Girls' School was then erected to complete a small settlement

Over the weekend there will be displays showing the history of the Moravian Church in general and the church at Lower Wyke. A short tour of the settlement is included. The church registers and diaries will be available for inspection.
