History + HIDE & SEEK at All Souls (2020)
All Souls Church, West Yorkshire,
HISTORY TRAIL
Come and take a closer look to find our hidden nature by taking a walk around the church and surrounding village following the online clues, until we can open the doors to you once more. This year we are offering you a glimpse inside the historic building and local history of the model village built by Colonel Akroyd, as part of our Halifax Heritage Trail through video.
One of the first villages of its kind in England but almost unknown. The church and village were designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott which becomes obvious when looking at the memorial in the centre of the village. He considered All Souls to be his finest church and whilst working here he also made alterations to the Halifax Minster.
You can also see clips from our ongoing community project the 'People of All Souls' and our past events.
HIDE & SEEK
The fourth solo art exhibition 'HIDE & SEEK' by local watercolour artist Jane Austin is full of her love of local flora and fauna, as well as prints of the local heritage. This year it will be available to view online as a video and digital gallery from 12th - 20th September, with commission donated to All Souls.
