All things bright & beautiful: Nature in a Gothic Church (2020)

St. Josephs Church, Slyne Road, Lancashire, LA1 2HU

  • Available anytime
  • Pre-booking not required

A short talk and tour exploring how churches use symbols, often taken from nature, from flowers, plants, creatures of the earth, sea and sky, to help us to understand the supernatural things of life.

After the introductory talk at 2pm, there will be points around the church where a guide will explain particular symbols: What does a mouse, a donkey, a dove, a pelican and a lamb, a poppy and a rose, and a cloth of gold all have in common and what do they all point towards? This tour will be suitable for people of all ages, and especially families and young children.
