Join Social Historian Emma Muscat for a tour-de-force of 1920's British dining. Inspired by the Downton Abbey television series and film (released September 13th), Emma discusses traditional culinary fare that would have been served at the dining tables of both wealthy and ordinary families.
Emma's illustrated talk includes analysis of sample menus, cookery books, tableware, dining customs and kitchen equipment from the period. There will also be a display of typical 1920s food and recipes. The talk will provide a fascinating insight into an exciting period in British food history which is often overlooked.
Emma Muscat is a Social Historian who specialises in 20th Century British Culture. Emma regularly appears on BBC radio and television discussing food and social history topics. Last year, for Winchester's Heritage Open Days, Emma organised the sell-out 'Tea with Lady Laura', immersive food history event at Winchester College.
