Behind the Scenes at Dorking Halls & Dorking Masonic Lodge (2018)

Dorking Halls, Reigate Road, Surrey, RH4 1SG

  • Available anytime
  • Pre-booking not required

Opened in 1931 and designed by Percy W Meredith, the Dorking Halls had a long association with composer Ralph Vaughan William, the Dorking and Leith Hill Music Festival and the Dorking Masonic Lodge. Guided tours explore this history.

After an introduction recounting the history of this popular venue which has been refurbished and modernised several times since the 1930s, visitors will be taken behind the scenes to areas not normally accessed by the general public. The tour includes a hands-on experience of the lighting and sound box, the stage and dressing rooms, the three projection rooms and store areas. The Dorking Masonic Lodge, who hold regular meetings and are covenanted users of Dorking Halls, will display a selection of artefacts in the Masonic Hall on Saturday between 10.00 and 12.30. Members will also be on hand to answer questions.
