160th Anniversary Tour, The Great Sheffield Flood, at Wardsend Cemetery

Wardsend Cemetery, Club Mill Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S6 2ET

  • 15 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

A guided walk through the wilderness of our Victorian cemetery, telling the stories and visiting the graves of the victims of the wild waters of 1864.

“After a long and dismal night, day at length dawned upon the valleys of the Loxley and the Don. Never did the light of morning break upon a scene more changed and desolated in the course of one short night.”

We will talk about the place of this cemetery in that landscape and the lives of the victims buried here.

Please note: Unfortunately, there is no disabled access to the Cemetery and therefore the tour is unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties.
