Westbourne House and Masonic Lodge

Although large parts of this building are usually closed to the public, Westbourne House has opened its doors on HODs since 2016, welcoming more than 200 visitors to the property over the last three years. A complimentary guide to the history of the building and its current use, along with a short talk on Freemasonry (not obligatory) will be available on the day.
The tour of the house and gardens includes all currently accessible rooms, including the extensive cellars, with a commentary which has been completely revised for 2024 The house has seen many changes, both in form and function, since its construction in the mid 1800s for William Ackroyd and his successors. Today, the building is a thriving Masonic Centre, home to 6 ‘craft’ Lodges and a host of side degrees, as well as a popular venue for weddings and other events.
