Vikings raided Polesworth Abbey in 827, and they are back this year on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September. Vikings of Middle England provide Saxon/Viking Village activities and enact the raid and The Big Battle for Polesworth each day.

Polesworth Abbey is open on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September for you to witness the Viking raids of 827 when radiers, who had overwintered at nearby Repton, descened on the Abbey. Vikings of Middle England will have set up a Saxon Village in the Abbey Cloister area with examples of Saxon life, tentmaking, coinmaking and weaponry. You'll be able to take part

Open 12 noon to 4.00 pm. Big Battle at 3.00 pm
Sunday 08 September:
Opne 12 noon to 4.00 pm. Final Big Battle at 3.00 pm

Directions:
Polesworth Abbey is easily accessible either from High Street or Bridge Street in Polesworth and also from the car park on the south side of the river at the junction of B5000 and Bridge Street (next to Polesworth Garage). The latter route takes you over the RIver Anker via a pedestrian bridge. There is also a large car park off Bridge Street — access opposite The Red Lion inn.

Disabled parking is avilable close to the Abbey, please use the Abbey driveway. Public parking is also nearby follow signs for Hall Court and you'll only be 400 meters from the Abbey! Alternative car parking on Grendon Road Car Park, walk over the pedestrian bridge and approach the Abbey from the west.
