Information on the ancient origins of this Peak District village.

We will feature details of Tideswell residents past and present and the social and industrial development of the village from Roman times, including the building of what is known as 'The Cathedral of the Peak' (St John the Baptist church).


Tideswell Saint John the Baptist

There will be access to the church although scaffolding may be in place in parts of the building. We will provide guides for a walk itinerary. This will include uneven surfaces and some ascents/descents.

Morning Walk: 11:00 a.m. ( sign up 10:30-10:55 Max 20 people)
Afternoon walk: 2 :00 p.m. ( sign up 1:30 -1:55 Max 20 people)

Located in the centre of Tideswell the church is almost impossible to miss because of the size of the building. Meet outside main church gate opposite CoOp

Please note This event has two elements The guided village Tour part of this event will involve uneven surfaces ascents/decents walking up short hills and may involve steps as well as curbs. The Living history display will be in the church itself, level access through one door.
