Come and join us for our family friendly event on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September 2024, 10 am- 3pm. Entry is free. English Heritage will be telling the stories of Chester Castle during the Civil War.

As part of the 2024 Heritage Open Days Festival , English Heritage will be opening the gates to Chester Castle and telling the stories of the castle during the Civil War. Meet our soldiers, the Calvary horses and learn how women supported the war effort. Find out what life was like for civilians. Watch demonstrations and displays or dress up in armour
Visit the fascinating Agricola Tower to see our beautiful wall paintings and our second-hand bookshop located in the cells. Take in the views of Chester and the surrounding countryside from the tower roof top .

Dogs welcome on leads. Please note access to the Chapel is via a spiral staircase.
