195-201 Kings Road Arches, Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, BN1 1NB

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person

Photographs, books and audio telling the stories of how Brighton came to be the city is is today.

QueenSpark Books is Brighton & Hove's community publisher, which for over 50 years has been telling the stories of the lesser-heard voices of the city.

For one day only, we are teaming up with Brighton Fishing Museum to display the full archive of out-of-print books for you to browse through, alongside a series of photographs taken of the 'slum clearances' in Brighton during the 1930s and 50s. There will also be a bookshop, and excerpts from the audiobook of Arthur Thickett's classic 'Deckhand-West Pier', about his job on the pier in the 1950s, originally read by the author himself.
