Stoneygate Tram Depot, 453 London Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE2 3JW
The Heritage Open Days theme for 2024 is "Connections, Routes & Networks" which invites us to delve into the various ways we are connected. In Leicester tramways provided the means for easy movement of people to connect with places for work or socially.
In 2024 there are three significant Leicester tramway anniversaries to celebrate. It is 150-years since the Leicester Tramways Company operated its first horse drawn tram, 120-years since the Corporation first introduced a fleet of electric tramcars on 18th May 1904 and 75-years since Leicester sadly said farewell to its trams on 9th November 1949.
We reveal the fascinating story of Leicester trams within the 120-year Stoneygate Tram Depot.
There will also be a 20-minute free heritage bus ride operating every 30-minutes from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm.

There is no parking provision at the Tram Depot and the cobbled front yard might be difficult for some. There is just one basic toilet on site but there is an accessible toilet in the Shell petrol station next door. All age groups and abilities are very welcome.
