St Michael's Chapel - hidden in plain sight!

Newton Road opposite Torre Station, Or Barton Road, Torquay, Devon, TQ2 5DD

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Visit the mysterious St Michael's Chapel in Torquay. Who built it , when and why?

Site can be accessed either from Newton Road, or a less steep path leads from Barton Road.
With little written about this site in the history books, come and make up your own mind. Was it a chapel for sailors, or for penitents? Certainly the natural rock floor would not have been for "ladies and gentlemen". Now a site recognised as part of the Riviera Geopark because of the rocky tor it is built on.

Please wear suitable footwear and bring your own water
