St Matthew's Surbiton Open Day

St Matthew's Church, Surbiton, Surrey, KT6 6JQ

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

An extended opportunity to explore and enjoy our lovely church. All welcome to admire the architecture, discover our history, enjoy some tea and cakes !

This is a parish church, built in 1875, and now Listed. We want to show you the fine building the Victorians gave to this community, tell you about the circumstances of the gift, show you the grand church they built and the stained glass that has been added over the years, let you hear the Ellacombe chimes ( plus the single bell that is older then the church!) and the Hedgeland/ J J Binns / J W Walker pipe organ, tell you about the banners, wall hangings and embroidery that we are adding to currently, guide you up the tower to see the views from four cardinal points, show you the WW1 memorial and the research that has been made into the parishioners listed there, and then sit you down with a cuppa and some cake for a rest. You are very welcome!
