St Lawrence’s Church was built in the late 11th Century in sight of the Castle at the opposite end of Boroughgate, the main street of the new Norman town of Appleby. Lady Anne Clifford's tomb is in the north-east corner of the church.

The Church committee have also put together a children's Animal Safari, which will be running both Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday at 1300, there will be a talk and display of 16th and 17th Century needlework, from the time of Lady Anne Clifford, and later needlework in Cumbrian castles and country houses.

It is a free event but donations for the Church organ fund would be very welcome.
