St John the Evangelist Church, Golcar
St John's Church, Church Street, Golcar, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD7 4PX
On Saturday 7th September, we are delighted to invite visitors to our "Million" church or "Waterloo" church as we approach our Bicentenary. The 1820s were a tempestuous time in British history. It saw the building of many churches, some of which have not survived. These churches were needed to provide worship for people moving following the Industrial Revolution.
We offer visits to our church, including our unique Binns organ, which will be demonstrated during the day. The Family History Society will be in attendance and will have full access to our church records.
A presentation of the church history, along with tours of the church will be available throughout the day. Many original documents and artifacts will be available to view.
Light refreshments will be available.
Why not combine your visit with a visit to the nearby Colne Valley Museum?

Flat access is available from the road onto our ground floor. Unfortunately the balcony is not accessible to wheelchairs, but the organ is clearly visible from the ground floor.
