St Andrew's is one of Leicester's hidden secrets - it looks much bigger and more impressive from the inside than from the outside. It's a Gilbert Scott design from 1860-62 and a lot of decorating and refurbishing has happened in the past 3 years.

St Andrew's is a Gilbert Scott Church (who is famous for the Midland Hotel outside St Pancras Station in London and for the design of the red phone boxes and post boxes) and being in a very busy area unfortunately has to be closed most times outside service hours. It doesn't look very impressive from the outside, mostly because it is surrounded by much higher buildings, but has a definite 'wow-factor' from the inside.

A lot of redecoration and refurbishing happened in the past 3 years and various knowledgeable people are on site whilst the church is open specially during the Heritage Open Days.

St Andrew's is a thriving Parish Church in the distinct anglo-catholic tradition.
