Seventeen Nineteen: Open and Free Access

Holy Trinity Church, Church Street East, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, SR1 2BB

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Holy Trinity, Sunderland's first parish church, is open to the public for viewing, self-guided tours and refreshments.

Holy Trinity Church, built in 1719 to coincide with Sunderland's emergence as a parish in its own right, has many dazzling features. This 300 year old building has many stories to tell. Come and explore the story of orphan boy William Elliot's letter from the past, the symbolism hidden in the stained glass window or take in the vestry room table where important decisions about Sunderland's future were made. Stay for a coffee in the cafe afterwards and ask a member of staff about our other upcoming concerts, workshops and lectures.
