Saint Michael and All Angels Ruin: its place in the landscape and history of Bowthorpe

Discover a 14th-century ruin with an illustrated guide to points of archaeological interest. There will also be displays and information on local history and famous figures over the years, as well as a themed quiz for all to enjoy.

A fantastic day out for all to discover Saint Michael and All Angels Ruin, its place in the landscape and history of Bowthorpe as well as links with Saint Walstan, patron Saint of Norfolk Farmers.
Two new history walks: 1100 accessible walk lasting about 1 hour - 1400 a more energetic, partly cross-country walk lasting 1.5 to 2 hours.

Throughout the day, uncover the fascinating archaeological features of the ruin itself at your own pace with our illustrated guide. Or discover further afield with a self-guided walk. Using an illustrated brochure of the area, this walk can take anything from 40 minutes to an hour and a half and begins and ends at the Ruin, taking in parts of the neighbourhood in-between.

A specially created themed Quiz will also be available to mark this year's Heritage Open Days theme of Routes - Networks - Connections and CD'S and children's games stalls will be available throughout the day. Light refreshments.
