Visit the tranquil site of St Benets Abbey - MONKS. and try your hand at geocaching. Lots of Monk to be found here with interesting facts and quizzes to do.

To celebrate HODs 30th Anniversary, we invite everyone to travel the Routes and Networks together and make Connections to their cultural past. You can participate in as much or as little as you like, just get out in the fresh air, learn something new and enjoy the beauty of these special places. This event will be open for the 10 days of HODs. Check our social media and website for updates and if you would like, coincide your visit with a guided tour (available on certain dates).

From Caistor Roman Town to Burgh Castle and on to St Benet's Abbey come and learn or use your geocaching skills to enjoy these beautiful spaces and learn more about Norfolk's heritage.
If you are new to Geocaching, don't forget to download the App before you leave home.

Please note there are car parking fees at Caistor Roman Town and Burgh Castle. (£3.00 for 3 hours)

Directions:
From Hall Common Farm Road, the track to St Benet's Abbey is long and single track, please drive slowly and take care. There is a public mooring at St Benet's Abbey, hire a cruiser and sail along the River Ant.

All 3 sites participating in our HOD's Events are Heritage Monuments and have rough terrain and steps. Please wear strong shoes.

Additional information

Burgh Castle and Caistor Roman Town both have car parks which have a fee. Pay by app or card. Norfolk Archaeological Trust sites are open only during day light hours. Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead as all times. Please respect the archaeology, do not climb on the structures or walls.
