A visit to this town, the capital city of East Anglia during the Roman Period, (ROMANS) and the geocaching trail will open your eyes to How The Romans Lived, as well as being a beautiful natural space for wildlife. From Caistor Roman Town to Burgh Castle and on to St Benet's Abbey, this event is part of 3 iconic heritage sites in Norfolk that will host a geocache challenge for everyone to enjoy.

To celebrate HOD's 30th Anniversary, we invite everyone to travel the route, network together and make connections to their cultural past. You can participate in as much or as little as you like, just get out in the fresh air, learn something new and enjoy the beauty of these special places.

As part of Romans, Romans and Monks, visit the capital city of East Anglia during the Roman Period, (ROMANS) and the geocaching trail will open your eyes to How The Romans Lived, as well as being a beautiful natural space for wildlife. The fun trail will take approximately 3 hours to complete.

All 3 sites participating in our HOD's Events are Heritage Monuments and have rough terrain and steps. Please wear strong shoes.

Additional information

Alongside our Geocaching event, there will be a guided tour on Sunday 8th September, tickets available at > https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/999366450957?aff=oddtdtcreator. Please note that as this is not part of the festival and tickets cost £5. On this date the church will be serving Afternoon Tea from 2p.m to 5p.m so you can enjoy refreshments after your tour and Burgh Castle and Caistor Roman Town both have car parks which have a fee. Pay by app or card. Norfolk Archaeological Trust sites are open only during day light hours. Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead as all times.
