Discover this impressive Napoleonic Fort.

180 feet diameter circular fort built in 1808 to defend Harwich against invasion by Napoleon Bonaparte. 11 guns sit on the battlements. Superb 360 degree views of the Harwich Peninsula, the Stour and Orwell Estuary, Felixstowe Dock and Walton on the Naze. Lovingly restored and holds many interesting artefacts in the lower rooms.

The approach lane is steep so may be unsuitable for wheelchair users but there is now disabled parking at the top of the slope. New disabled toilet. A stairlift is available to access the lower levels.
