Today, you'll find a classic Georgian mansion with a listed stable block, surrounded by 240 acres of parkland and farmland, which offer year-round seasonal walks with a colourful Victorian formal garden accompanying the mansion. The formal garden boasts colourful seasonal displays and established herbaceous borders, with a wildflower meadow, orchard and pond creating a green oasis.
This year in the house we are celebrating the world of photography after recently discovering one of the spaces was once a working darkroom. You can discover more about photography through the exhibitions and have some fun in the photo studio. Conservation plays a vital part in caring for Ormesby Hall, so make sure to drop by on our Heritage Open Days to see the conservation team in action and what they do to look after Ormesby Hall.
On Friday 13 September at 11am and 2pm there will be a rehearsed reading celebrating Teesside Youth Theatre which was based at Ormesby Hall throughout the 1970’s, entitled "Drama In The Kitchen: Teesside Youth Theatre at Ormesby Hall". Come and watch former members of the Teesside Youth Theatre come together for their rehearsed reading, which explores their fond memories of being part of the innovative young people’s theatre which ran throughout the 1970’s. This rehearsed reading, features recollections of the members and excerpts from their most favourite performances ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘Playgoers’, combined with Ruth’s and Theatre member’s poetry.

Due to Ormesby Hall's historic setting, there are many areas with uneven cobbles and gravel paths. If unfamiliar with the property, please contact a member of the team when planning your visit. The grounds are a mix of flat paved and gravel and grass paths through the grounds, with some steps and cobbles in the servant's courtyard. We have manual wheelchairs for hire, but we do not have mobility scooters for hire. Due to the narrow doorways inside the house, mobility scooters are not suitable - please ask for a manual wheelchair if needed. Ramped wheelchair access into the house.
