Explore the bridge crossings of the River Ure at and near Ripon’s historic North Bridge. The story spans not just the river but centuries of engineering know-how. We will look closely at the medieval stone North Bridge, find the site of the all-but-vanished Victorian railway bridge and venture under the modern and innovative Duchess of Kent Bridge carrying the A61.

The route is mainly on paved surfaces and is step-free with the option of accessing the adjacent field and river bank so stout footwear is recommended particularly if the weather is wet.
There is very limited on-street parking nearby. Bus RS4 runs from Ripon Bus Station at 09.55 arriving at Riverside Meadows at 10.00 from where it is a two minute walk to North Bridge. The return journey leaves Magdalens Road at 11.34 to arrive back at the Bus Station for 11.38.
