Llanthony Secunda Priory

Founded in 1136, the history of this former Augustinian Priory is told throughout 5 acres of grounds. Marvel at the magnificent medieval timber roof and late 15th to early 16th century brickwork. In the medieval period the scholars of Llanthony Secunda were responsible for the creation of a very special library that is still considered one of the richest and best-documented medieval English book collections in the country. This remarkable library is no longer in Gloucester but is scattered across the world.
On Saturday 9th, there will be a demonstration of Wool Spinning and Basket Making between 11.30 and 13.30 Followed by some traditional English music.
There will also be guided walks at Llanthony on Friday 13th at 10.00 and 14.00 (see separate entry)
