A unique business that primarily specialises in the maintenance, conservation, restoration and building of fairground organs and mechanical musical instruments. Kevin Meayers and his staff have been based in Chesham for 17 years.
The business started in 1984 in London, but moved to nearby Amersham to take on the restoration of a private collection devastated by fire in 1994. The Amersham Fair Organ Museum Trust was formed to encompass this collection in 2004 and contains six instruments, all of which are in the care of Kevin Meayers and his team.
Today the large, expansive premises in Chesham enables Kevin Meayers to work on the very largest fairground organs from the late nineteenth and early twentieth-centuries, made in Europe and further afield. The business also makes perforated cardboard music and holds a vast historic reference collection.
Kevin Meayers and members of his team will be on hand throughout the day to demonstrate their skills and will show how these spectacular organs are brought back to life using a range of highly skilled techniques. They will explain how mechanical organs work and demonstrate one instrument that has recently been restored to full working order. Visitors will also be able to see how perforated cardboard books and paper roll music are produced using equipment that are interesting period items in their own right.

The perforated sheet and roll music production is located at mezzanine level and is unsuitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues.

There are other participating venues located near Bellingdon Road, including the Hearse House in the cemetery and Chesham Mosque. There is a fifteen-minute walk to Kevin Meayers Organ Builders from Chesham underground station (Metropolitan Line). A street map is displayed in the ticket office.
