Celebrate Kelmscott Manor’s history with a range of free creative activities! ‘Heaven on Earth’ for William Morris, the Manor and its surroundings inspired residents in their creative pursuits which visitors can continue today.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to explore inside Kelmscott Manor for free and discover the place William Morris called a 'Heaven on Earth'. Our Maker in Residence, Sarah Davis will be demonstrating her craft as an Illuminator and we’ll have creative activities such as Rag Rug making, Lace making demonstrations and the chance to explore the history of Play.

Our knowledgeable volunteers and staff will be ready to answer any questions in the House where you can learn more about some of Kelmscott Manor’s past residents.

There’ll be something for everyone so come and enjoy the stunning Manor House, grounds and creative activities for free on Saturday 14th September 2024.

Directions:
Please park in the car park at the top of Kelmscott Village, next to the Church and walk down to the Manor. An electric shuttle bus runs throughout the day for those who cannot make the 10 minute (644 meter / 0.4 m) walk.

Accessibility details

We welcome all types of mobility vehicles; we have two manual wheelchairs which are available for use. Please ask a member of staff on site for assistance. There is step free access to the ground floor of the house, the gardens, shop and tearoom for wheelchair users. However, due to the narrow doorways and for the protection of the collection we may ask visitors using motorised wheelchairs to transfer to manual wheelchairs before entering the manor. A Shuttle bus runs between the car park to the Manor throughout the day, for those unable to make the 10 to 12-minute (644 meter / 0.4 m) walk.

Additional information

Anyone entitled to free entry to the Manor House due to holding an annual pass, Historic Houses membership or as a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries must still hold a free admission ticket for the 14th September acquired from the ticket office on the day.
