Visit these delightful allotments off Wey Lane, the site of the original gardens for the town's workhouse.

This small allotment site was originally part of the gardens for the Old Poor House (the town's first workhouse - now private houses visible opposite the allotments down the New Footpath opposite Thomas Harding School). The Old Poor House was built in 1540 and housed about 20 inmates. The able-bodied were put to work in these gardens, which are now the site of recreational gardening for Old Town residents.
