Join the Women's Engineering Society in their Electric Dreams series of talks as they celebrate the formation of the Electrical Association for Women 100 years ago. This event is organised in conjunction with Local Studies (Swindon Libraries).

In the early 20th century, a group of pioneering women campaigned and demonstrated in practical ways how new technology could improve the lives and homes of all women. The newly established Women’s Engineering Society and the Electrical Association for Women sought to harness opportunities provided by electricity to make women’s lives better, placing their needs, especially in the home, at the centre of this massive technological and social shift.

Join WES, and architectural historian, Sarah Yates at the Local Studies (Swindon Libraries) as we celebrate the role of the Electrical Association for Women and reflect on how electricity impacts our everyday lives in the past, today and the future.
