Relive Georgian life at the home of William Cowper, renowned 18th century poet. Discover how his friend John Newton’s life and personal experiences inspired him to write the world’s most famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’ in Olney.
Wander through the 18th century Flower & the Summer House Gardens. Don't miss poet William Cowper's 'Verse Manufactory' surrounded by medicinal plants and heritage fruit and vegetables.

Accessibility details

Pushchairs and prams can be pushed around the gardens, but not in the main building due to stairs and small rooms. We have many flights of uneven stairs. Wheelchair accessibility is possible in the gardens, the Viper Barn for the introductory video and the shop only. No dogs allowed in the gardens or house (unless assistance dogs).
