Visit the Heritage and Rural Skills centre which has been set up to preserve and teach traditional skills and crafts that are at risk of becoming extinct. Re-using redundant spaces in the Victorian Model Farm the centre aims to ensure the survival of these traditional crafts. During the day craftspeople associated with the Skills Centre will be demonstrating their crafts. There will also be tours of the Model Farm buildings, explaining their original use and looking at the design choices that made the farm so innovative.
Also open will be Coleshill Mill, an 18th century watermill, once home to renown potter Katherine Pleydell-Bouverie. See the original machinery and learn how the mill would have operated.
Coleshill's secret Bunker will also be open as part of the day, here visitors can discover the secret history of the Auxiliary Units who trained at Coleshill in the 1940s., who would have become the British Resistance in case of invasion. Find out about their unique wartime role, their training at Coleshill and visit a replica 'hideout'.
