Bournville Model Boat Club (part of Bournville Heritage Open Day)

Valley Parkway, Bournville Lane, Bournville, Birmingham, West Midlands, B30 1QS

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Visitors will see a wide assortment of yachts and model boats in action on the water. A number of radio-controlled yachts and boats will be available for visitors to sail.

Bournville Model Yachting Club was founded in 1923 and we started sailing at Rowheath Park. By 1926, George Cadbury had commissioned an area of marshland on the now-famous Bournville Village Trust, to be reclaimed and a concrete pool of even depth was constructed. The Valley Pool was officially opened in 1933, and the sailing of yachts and power boats has taken place there on a regular basis since then. Visitors will have the opportunity to see our updated boathouse, historical artefact and photographic display, plus get close to the model boats in action!
