Selly Manor Museum commissioned four young, local, artists of Black Heritage to create artworks depicting Black Tudors inspired by real people's stories. Explore our medieval house and enjoy these fantastic, thought-provoking artworks.

Many people don;t realise how many people of colour from all over the world who lived and worked in England in the Tudor period as merchants, musicians and ordinary farmers, living both ordinary and extraordinary lives. Our colleagues at Selly Manor Museum asked young artists to explore some of the lives of these fascinating people and respond with pieces of artwork. These artworks are now on display at Bromwich Hall.

Visit Bromwich Hall once the home of the Lords of the Manor of West Bromwich, a grade I listed timber framed building with the earliest parts dating back to the 1270s, explore its stories and discover the people who lived here and medieval West Bromwich.

You can find the Black Tudors exhibition around the house with 5 pieces of art including paintings, drawings and poetry. You will also be able to read about the lives of the Tudor person their piece of art showcases. Discover the lives of 5 Black Tudors and enjoy these fabulous pieces of art created by local young artists.
