  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Come and visit our Heritage Open Morning and take part in a children's trail, or our two heritage talks. We will also have some of our archive materials on show and you can see the new exhibition created for our 125th birthday.

The Birmingham Hippodrome is celebrating our 125th birthday and we are opening our doors to share our vibrant and varied history with you.

Children’s Trail - Explore the theatre spaces by following the trail and answering the activities on the handout. The trail is suitable for children of all ages and abilities.

Heritage Talks - We are offering two different talks that will each last approx. 30 mins. The first talk at 10:30am, will delve into the theatre’s history and the second talk at 11:30am will look at the history of musicals. Both talks will be followed by a short Q and A session.

Props Activity - Try setting up a props table ready for a show! See how quickly you can arrange it and try to work out what show it relates to.

View the Archive - A selection of pieces from the archive will be on show. Come and speak to our knowledgeable volunteers about the collection and the theatre's history. You can even donate your own pieces to help us to expand our archive.

Heritage Exhibition - To celebrate our history, we have installed a heritage exhibition across the theatre's foyers. Arranged by themes, the exhibition includes images of our variety years, our history of musicals, the changing faces to the building and more.

Come along, take part, and learn the stories of our past.
