300 Years of Worship on the site of the United Reformed Church

The site of our present buildings - in The Broadway at the heart of Chesham town centre - has been a place of worship and a base for witnesses since 1724, but the roots of the congregation are believed to go back much further. The building was originally constructed for an Independent Congregation. When it was re-built in 1886 it was by a Congregational Church. In 1972 the congregation joined the United Reformed Church.
The organ in the church dates from 1886 and is of historic note, since it is the first use of tubular-pneumatic action by the organ builder, Forster & Andrews. It is listed in the National Pipe Organ Register and the British Institute of Organ Studies awarded it a certificate Grade I in June 2011.
This year, we are celebrating 300 years of worship on our site. On Saturday 7th there will be a Ploughman's lunched followed by cream teas, and on Sunday 8th there will be cream teas. There will be a display of the history of the church site and a harvest decorations display.

There is ample free parking in the nearby Star Yard car park, on the opposite side of The Broadway. There is full wheelchair access to the main church, but no wheelchair access to the gallery.
