Philanthropy is about giving money, time and resources to help others. This walk will highlight our philanthropic past and how we came together through philanthropic acts, large and small, for the greater good of our region

Generosity – past, present and future – binds us together, making the North East a special place to live and work. The built environment around us is shaped by the work of philanthropists, inspired across generations to care for others and strive for a better society. From schools, hospitals and churches to parks, gardens and even Newcastle University, many of the places that enhance and characterise our towns and cities simply wouldn't be there without the vision and generosity of philanthropists.

On this tour you will hear about the rich history of philanthropy in Newcastle over a period of several hundred years to the present day.
